Catherine Parker is the Disability Support Officer within the Academic Enabling and Support Centre. Her title has recently changed from Equity Officer to more specifically reflect the student group she works with under the Disability Standards for Education (2005). Catherine’s post-graduate studies specialised in vocational rehabilitation and she has extensive experience in working with people with disabilities returning to work and undergoing career change, as well as in the Vocational Education and Training sector.
Her role is to provide advice and support to the University on adjustments to learning and assessment methods, equipment and support services to cater for students with individual needs resulting from injuries, health conditions and disabilities. She is available to assist staff and students to explore, formulate and implement reasonable adjustments to ensure that students with a disability have the opportunity to participate on the same basis as others, while maintaining the integrity of inherent course requirements.
