Cathy Borthwick began work as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Education at the Broome campus at the beginning of 2007. She lectures the Certificate III in Teacher Assistant (Indigenous) – a course which is offered on block release to Indigenous people working in schools from all around Western Australia who attend campus six times a year for study blocks. 

Cathy had previous connections with Notre Dame’s Broome campus working here with the VET business students in 1994/5 when the campus was in its early stages. In addition she was a student at the Broome campus between 1998 and 2000 gaining a multi-disciplinary Bachelor of Arts Degree studying, communications, visual arts and literature.
In 2004 she gained Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment from Kimberley College of TAFE Broome Campus.

Her teaching career began when she graduated with a Diploma in Teaching from Goulburn College of Advanced Education in N.S.W. in 1979. In 1984 she arrived in Broome after travelling around Australia and since then has been involved in Indigenous education, especially with adults, working at many of the educational institutions operating in town including TAFE, Edith Cowan University and Broome Regional Prison Education Centre.
