Friday 6 August 2010
Friday 6 August 2010 will be an important milestone for the Broome Campus of The University of Notre Dame Australia. It will be the official opening and blessing of the new recreational and multi-purpose hall on the campus grounds. The Hall will complement the existing Library’s contemporary expression of the traditional Broome architecture, and like the Library, will provide an important community and University facility.
The building will be blessed by Bishop Christopher Saunders, Bishop of Broome and opened by Father Edward Malloy CSC, Emeritus President of the University of Notre Dame (USA).
Professor Lyn Henderson-Yates, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Broome Campus said, “The hall will be a major asset both to the University and the local community. It will be available for use by local groups for sporting activities, conferences, workshops and many other activities.”
Construction of the hall commenced in December 2009 and was completed in late July 2010. It was designed by Marcus Collins Architects of Perth and constructed by Rapley Wilkinson Ltd.
The blessing and opening will take place at 10am.
