Introduction to Year 12 Mathematics Methods

This two day course is designed to prepare students for year 12 Mathematics Methods. Students will be introduced to the concepts included in the year 12 syllabus.

Unit 3

  • Further differentiation and applications
  • Integrals
  • Discrete random variables

Unit 4

  • The logarithmic function
  • Continuous random variables and the normal distribution
  • Interval estimates for proportions

This two day course is designed to prepare students for year 12 ATAR English. Students will be introduced to the concepts included in the year 12 syllabus.

  • Explore representation of themes, issues, ideas and concepts through comparison of texts.
  • Analyse the conventions of genre in texts.
  • The effect of different media, forms and modes on the structure of texts.
  • Creation of imaginative, interpretive, persuasive and analytical responses.

Unit 4

  • Examine different interpretations and perspectives.
  • Challenge perspectives, values and attitudes in texts.
  • Explore relationships between content and structure, voice and perspectives and the text and context.
  • Explore ideas through reading and viewing.
  • Creation of imaginative, interpretive, persuasive and analytical responses.

This two day course is designed to prepare students for year 12 ATAR English Literature. Students will be introduced to the concepts included in the year 12 syllabus.

  • Understand the relationship between language, culture and identity
  • Develop own analytical responses
  • Create texts that experiment with literary style

Unit 4

  • Understand the relationship between the representation of values and ideas in texts and how they are received by audiences
  • Reflect on how literary texts can be interpreted
  • Create texts blending and borrowing literary conventions

Introduction to Year 12 ATAR Human Biology

This two day course is designed to prepare students for year 12 ATAR Human Biology. Students will be introduced to the concepts included in the year 12 syllabus.

Unit 3 – Homeostasis and disease

  • Exploration of the nervous and endocrine systems and the mechanisms that help maintain the systems of the body to function within normal range, and the body’s immune responses to invading pathogens.

Unit 4 – Human variation and evolution

  • Exploration of the variations in humans, their changing environment and evolutionary trends in homonids.

Introduction to Year 12 ATAR Chemistry

This two day course is designed to prepare students for year 12 ATAR Chemistry. Students will be introduced to the concepts included in the year 12 syllabus.

Unit 3 – Equilibrium, acids and bases, and redox reactions

  • Reversibility of reactions and the dynamic nature of equilibrium in chemical systems
  • Contemporary models of acid-base behaviour that explain their properties and uses
  • The principles of oxidation and reduction reactions

Unit 4 – Organic chemistry and chemical synthesis

  • Relationship between the structure, properties and chemical reactions of different organic functional groups.
  • The process of chemical synthesis to form useful substances and products.
