Outline of Studies
Exercise and Sport Science incorporates the key discipline areas of anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology and training, human growth and development, biomechanics, motor skill acquisition, and exercise prescription and nutrition. The combination of academic theory and extensive industry work experience develops independent, refl ective practitioners who can advocate the important roles that exercise science plays in community health and wellbeing, rehabilitation, disease prevention and in enhancing human performance. In addition, Exercise & Sports Science graduates can also gain industry-relevant qualifi cations during the course of their degree, such as Level 1 Sports Trainer certifi cation, First Aid & CPR and Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach certification.
This course has been accredited by the national industry body, Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA). Graduates of this course are eligible for registration with ESSA as exercise and sport scientists upon completion of the degree. Further postgraduate study completing the Graduate Diploma in Exercise Science within the School of Health Sciences enables students to become accredited by ESSA as clinical exercise physiologists.
