Resource Room database

What is the Resource Room database?

  • The Resource Room database has been complied as an information system for Environmental and Life science students.
  • It is a database of all the resources that are available for student usage in the School’s resource room (with some extra resources available in Assoc. Prof. Peta Sanderson's office).

How is the database set out?

  • The database is divided into 23 main subject categories. These categories are then divided into sub-categories. You will find a total listing of the subject categories and sub-categories near this information sheet.
  • Each of the resources and publications are listed alphabetically (by title) under each sub-category. This therefore makes the categories and sub-categories the easiest starting point for finding a resource in the database.

What can I use the database for?

  • The database can be used to either search the categories for titles and subjects included in the category or to find the location and the category of any resource you are trying to allocate.
  • The easiest method of searching for a subject or title name throughout the database is through using the 'Find' function, located under the 'Edit' menu in Excel. On a Mac, a shortcut to this function is available through hitting function F.

Important information about the database

  • Please note that the Excel database's "Resource room database' sheet (ie: the main sheet in the database) is protected and appears as a read only workbook.
  • All environmental and life science students are welcome to use the database and the resource room.
  • If you wish to use the resource room after you have searched the database, please see either Assoc. Prof. Peta Sanderson (ND32/124) or Arts and Science reception.
  • At this stage the database is only available on computers in the School of Arts and Science
