Brian Griffiths was educated at the University of Western Australia where he obtained a B.Ed. and M.A. in Psychology. His Masters thesis examined some of the problems associated with the measurement of fear. He was Head of the Psychology Department at Claremont Teachers College before being appointed as lecturer in psychology to W.A.I.T. (later to become Curtin University of Technology) upon its foundation in 1967. For several years he was Acting Head of the School of Psychology and retired in 1995 as Associate Professor and Head of the School of Psychology. He is currently Adjunct Professor in that School. He has continued to conduct research and publish in his areas of interest, those being social attitudes, especially prejudice, attribution theory and the psychology of religion.
