David is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology with a private practice in Winthrop, WA. He lectures in the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Counselling. He holds tertiary level qualifications in psychology, theology, education and business. David has broad life and psychology clinical experience. As a young Australian Army infantry soldier he had an operational tour in the Vietnam War. He is a qualified paratrooper and diver. He attained full Colonel rank. He has worked full-time for the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and continues part-time as a chaplain. David has worked as a clinical psychologist with the Western Australia Police. In a support role, David has been to Army peace operations in Bougainville and East Timor, and to AFP operations in Bali (1st Bombing), the Solomon Islands Intervention, and the Tsunami disaster in Phuket, Thailand. He has supported the AFP on Christmas Island. He is a member of the Federal Government’s Veterans' Family Study Consultative Forum that advises on the current $14 million research into the extant and intergenerational effects of war-service on veterans’ families and children. His doctoral research thesis investigated aspects of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in veterans. He is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. |
