Dr Deborah Gare is an Australian historian, specialising in historiography, empire, war, identity and all things West Australian. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and PhD at the University of Western Australia before taking a position as Research Associate in Curtin University's Division of Humanities. From 2002 to 2003 she was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of History at the University of British Columbia, and in 2003 was appointed Visiting Fellow at the Department of History at the University of Manchester. Dr Gare's publications include The Fuss that Never Ended: The Life and Work of Geoffrey Blainey (MUP, 2003) and Lady Onslow's Legacy: A History of the Home of Peace and Brightwater Care Group (BCG, 2001). She was an editor of the journal Limina: A Journal of Historical and Cultural Studies from 1998 to 2002. In addition to a range of published papers regarding Australian sovereignty and historiography, Dr Gare is a regular contributor and columnist for the newspaper Campus Review. She has been teaching at the University of Notre Dame since 1998.
