Dr Stevens completed a BA with First Class Honours and PhD at Curtin University of Technology. Between 1998 and 2007, he worked as a tutor (and occasional lecturer) in Curtin University’s Division of Humanities teaching history. During that time he had several articles on Western Australian history published. In 2002, he was a recipient of the Executive Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Simon brought his passion for teaching to Notre Dame in 2008, and in the same year the Student Association presented him with their Outstanding Lecturer Award. Currently he teaches various history, politics and social justice units. His research interests are wide ranging, and include practically everything related to history, historiography, international politics, social justice and philosophy.
