Prior to joining the School of Business at The University of Notre Dame Australia in 2003, Professor Parkin was a senior partner in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services practice in Ernst & Young, previously with Arthur Andersen. His experience in auditing and financial consulting spanned thirty years and four continents. He has worked alongside boards and senior executives in a wide range of industries, in both the private and public sectors. He has consulted in areas of acquisition due diligence, corporate restructuring and as an expert witness in litigation matters. Professor Parkin has an ongoing involvement with both business and the profession at the highest level, through Board and Audit committee appointments, together with various ongoing consulting and mentoring projects in both the private and public sectors. Professionally, Professor Parkin has been a national Board member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (“ICAA”) and a member of its national Education Board and national Audit Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of the Chartered Accountants’ Advisory Group in Western Australia. He is a past ICAA Western Australian Regional Councillor and Chair and a past member of a number of the Institute’s local committees. He has recently been presented with the Meritorious Service Award – one of the ICAA’s highest formal accolades. Professor Parkin has also been a member of, or chaired, a diverse number of advisory bodies to State Government and secondary/tertiary institutions. He is a regular speaker in Perth on accounting and related business issues. Professor Parkin’s teaching at the University embraces accounting (at both under and post graduate levels), managerial accounting and auditing. |
