Welcome to the School of Health Sciences (Fremantle). Although new in name, this School has its roots in the establishment in 1999 of the College of Health which comprised the Schools of Nursing and Counselling. In rapid succession, other Schools were established and new students enrolled. Health and Physical Education commenced in 2001, Physiotherapy in 2003, and Medicine in 2005. The Biomedical Science program, which had commenced in 2003, was also added to the College in 2005. With the advent of our Sydney Campus a national College of Health Sciences and its Fremantle School was established in 2006. It is planned that the University will also establish a School of Health Sciences in Sydney.

The vision of the School is to graduate young professionals who will be working at the cutting edge of health sciences knowledge and practice to further personal and community health. The healthcare industry has diverse needs and we provide through our various courses, professionals who will work across a spectrum of approaches to improving health. From education, early intervention and prevention to diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation we aim to produce graduates who have a strong service ethos and a human-centred focus.

Whether you are studying to become a biomedical or diagnostic scientist, a sports manager, a health and physical education teacher, a health promotion professional or a physiotherapist your common bond will be an interest in promoting healthy living.

Our values-based curriculum, strong practical focus, and student-centred approach all provide for a meaningful university experience while attaining a highly valued and internationally recognised qualification.

We look forward to welcoming you, our future health and education professionals, to our School.
