School of Health and Physical Education Undergraduate Programs

For those wishing to be specialist sports and physical education teacher we offer a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (BHPE) This degree is an integrated theory and practical program of specialist health and physical education studies and teaching theory and methods. Students qualify with a specialist HPE major and a secondary teaching area such as science, mathematics, or society and environmental studies. The degree incorporates sports practicals in five semesters and 27 weeks of teaching practice in both primary and secondary schools. BHPE graduates are highly regarded as being strong in content knowledge and highly skilled teachers.

 
 
The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (BESS) is designed for those wishing to become an exercise specialist. This degree prepares students to use exercise interventions with clients or sport teams in training, injury prevention or rehabilitation programs. The academic studies are designed to meet the knowledge and competency requirements of the Australian Association of Exercise and Sport Science. An extensive practicum program of 12 weeks is integrated into the degree to optimise practical workplace skills development.
 

The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management (BSRM) is a blend of business studies with applied studies of sport. The degree prepares students to work in the management aspects of sport whether at team, club or sports association level. Students can complete a number of complementary majors in the degree such as marketing, human resource management, information technology, or health and behavioural science. An extensive industry practicum totalling 12 weeks is included in the course allowing graduates to develop on-the-job competencies prior to graduation.
