Duncan Picknoll has been involved in the teaching of Outdoor Education at The University of Notre Dame Australia since 2004.  Prior to his employment at Notre Dame he was Curriculum Leader of Outdoor Education at Scotch College.  He coordinates the Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation and lectures Outdoor Education units within the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education.

Duncan is currently completing his Doctorate of Education and has presented initial findings on the Nature and Scope of Outdoor Education in Western Australia Secondary Schools at the Outdoors WA state conference in 2009.

Outside of his university work, Duncan has contributed to government boards and has been the Chief Examiner (Outdoor Education) for the Curriculum Council of Western Australia.  He holds a number of National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) and Australian Canoeing (AC) Assessor qualifications and has recently completed registration as an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning (APIOL).  He is well respected within the teaching of Outdoor Education and the wider Outdoor Industry which has directly influenced the development of Outdoor Education/Recreation at the university.

In future years Duncan hopes to combine his passion for the teaching of Outdoor Education and the development of research which will provide students with a unique environment for learning that provides theoretical, practical and research opportunities.
