Fleurs research experience and interest has been primarily focused on the motor development area and in particular, young children and motor skills, and physical activity.
She completed her PhD in 2009 as a recipient of an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship. Her PhD thesis A longitudinal examination of the relationship between perceived motor competence and actual motor competence on physical activity in 6 to 9 year old children identified the importance of motor skills factors and the perceived ability which create strong foundations for the child who is attracted and motivated towards physically active play and ultimately a healthier lifestyle.
Fleur currently coordinates units such as Physical Activity and Health, Motor Development, Motor Control and Motor Learning, and Psychosocial Aspects of Sport and Physical Activity within the School of Health Sciences.
