Marilyn was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, where she graduated with a BBA (Hon) from the Schulich School of Business at York University. While a business student, Marilyn founded and managed her own magazine, On The Wall, and was published numerous times in The Toronto Star, Canada’s largest circulated newspaper. In 2005, Marilyn moved to Perth. Marilyn then completed an LLB (Dist) at the University of Western Australia and she worked as an articled clerk and solicitor at a medium sized law firm.

Presently, Marilyn works as a solicitor in the areas of criminal law and civil litigation at CMS Legal, while pursuing a PhD part-time about how social media affects the courts in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Marilyn has lectured evidence at The University of Notre Dame and has tutored evidence at the University of Western Australia. She currently lectures civil procedure and evidence. Marilyn also acts as a volunteer judge at the mock trials of high school students. She is a past President of the Rotaract Club of Perth.

Marilyn’s research interests are social media and the courts, health law and dispute resolution. Her publications in peer reviewed journals to date are:
