Dr Clare V Johnson completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours in vocal performance) at the University of Melbourne (1993) and a Bachelor of Theology (Honours in liturgical studies) at the Melbourne College of Divinity (1996). She was granted an Associate of Music Australia Diploma (Singing) from the Australian Music Examinations Board in 1996. In 1998 she graduated with a Master of Arts in Theology (majoring in Liturgical Studies) from Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, and in 2004 she graduated with a Ph.D. in Liturgical Studies from the University of Notre Dame du Lac, South Bend, Indiana. At Notre Dame (USA) she taught theology, preaching, liturgy and music to undergraduate and graduate students and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Theology, coordinating satellite theology courses on behalf of Notre Dame at Michigan State University, Lansing MI. She has taught at UNDA since 2005. She has an extensive performance background in solo and choral music, is an experienced choral director and has an active interest in the relationship between music and liturgy. She has facilitated numerous workshops and seminars on pastoral liturgy, liturgical music and sacramental theology both in Australia and the USA. Her research interests include ritual studies, liturgical inculturation, liturgical theology, theological anthropology and generational evangelization. She has published articles in Worship, Studia Liturgica,Pastoral Music, The Summit, Liturgy News and NDCPL Bulletin, and is the editor of Ars Liturgiae: Worship Aesthetics and Praxis (Chicago: LTP, 2003).
