Dr Novello holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Adelaide (1982). He worked for several years as a researcher in the Department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Adelaide. His interests eventually turned to theology, and he completed his undergraduate theological studies at The Flinders University of South Australia in 1992. He was awarded the S.T.L. degree in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, in 1998. That same year he returned to Australia to undertake doctoral studies and was awarded the Ph.D degree in April, 2002. He was a Research Fellow of the School of Theology, The Flinders University of South Australia, for two years, before taking up a position as lecturer in systematic theology at The University of Notre Dame Australia in July, 2004. As well as eschatology (especially a theology of death) christology, and Trinity, his interests include Jewish apocalyptic literature, Christian-Jewish relations, Christian mysticism, and the dialogue between science and theology.
