Rev. Dr. Russell Hardiman studied at the Urbaniana University, Rome where he received his STB (Baccalaureate in Sacred Liturgy) and STL (Sacred Theology Licentiate). Further studies at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of San’ Anselmo, Rome, culminated in the MSLit (Masters in Sacred Liturgy) and DSLit (Doctorate in Sacred Liturgy). He is also a Member of the Australian Academy of Liturgy and Consultant to the National Liturgical Commission of the Australian Bishops Conference. Since completing doctoral studies, he has been involved in every diocese in WA through the training and formation of church leaders at all levels of ministry as well as maintaining a parish ministry. He has lectured at the Maranatha Institute in Sacramental Theology at the Catholic Institute of WA and in Liturgy and Ministry Training at the Perth College of Divinity, and has been involved in Priests’ Renewal Courses, Liturgical Studies and Retreats. He was also involved with in-service education at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. He has written articles and liturgy aids in his journal, Pastoral Liturgy, published since 1970 from which a book of essays entitled The Years of the Year was published in 1997 (published in the USA as At the Heart of Liturgy). On loan from the Bunbury Diocese Rev. Dr. Hardiman has been serving as Dean of Studies at St Charles’ Seminary for the past two years.
