Can I study off-campus or in external mode?
The University of Notre Dame Australia provides a sense of community and belonging to each of our students. We have a commitment to the highest levels of pastoral care and personal service. Part of this commitment is to enable as much lecturer-student interaction as possible.
Research throughout Australia and in other countries has revealed that students who are not regularly exposed to face-to-face interaction with fellow students and staff tend to drop out at a much higher rate than those who are. For these reasons, most of Notre Dame's courses are offered only in on-campus (internal) mode. Where the unit content enables effective communication of course goals as well as regular interaction between students and academic staff, particular units within courses may be offered by correspondence or via the internet.
Some postgraduate units within the Fremantle Campus Schools of Education and Philosophy & Theology are available externally.
Some of the courses offered at The University of Notre Dame's Broome Campus enable an off-campus enrolment. Students study most of the course off campus but are required to attend the university for the first and seventh weeks of semester. External courses are also available from the Broome Campus.
Students should discuss their requirements with the course coordinator when making application for enrolment.

How will I know my way around campus?
The beautiful buildings of both the campus and the surrounding city of Fremantle lend a distinctive character to Notre Dame. Few universities in Australia can offer the atmosphere that Notre Dame provides. Study is a pleasure in this environment.
Imagine walking through streets and laneways laid out in the days of horse and carriage, only to emerge into the hustle and bustle of a vibrant and modern port city. Present and past merge into a rich mix of cultures and traditions that is typical of the older university towns of Europe. After taking a class in one of our restored heritage buildings, have a break with fellow students at one of the many restaurants or coffee shops, and watch the world go by.
The buildings and classrooms at Notre Dame are organised in a very logical manner, and students find it very easy to get from class to class. If, however, you do get lost, just ask another friendly student or member of staff and they will help you get where you are going.
