Certificate and Diploma Programs

A Graduate Certificate is normally made up of 4 interrelated units (or one semester) of study .

A Graduate Diploma is made up of 8 interrelated units (or 2 semesters) of study.

Masters Degrees

Masters Degrees are generally completed in one to two years. There are 3 modes of study possible when studying for a Masters Degree:

By Coursework: suitable for students who have limited research experience and are hoping to gain more knowledge in their chosen field of study

By Coursework & Dissertation: suitable for students who have some research experience and are looking to deepen their knowledge and gain research credentials in their chosen field.

By Thesis: suitable for students who have research experience and are looking to strengthen their research credentials.

Master of Philosophy: this qualification can allow the student to pursue further study in two related disciplines. The coursework components are often chosen from two Colleges within the University. It is completed by both coursework and dissertation.

Doctoral Degrees

Doctoral Degrees are generally completed full time over a 3-year period.

Professional Doctorates
The University offers professional doctorates in Education and Business. The Doctor of Education and Doctor of Business Administration involve a significant research project combined with formal coursework.

Doctor of Philosophy
The Doctor of Philosophy is available in all disciplines represented at the University. It is primarily completed by research thesis, but the student may also be required to complete some coursework units.

Entry Requirements

English Language Entry Requirement

Students must provide evidence of having attained a suitable level of English to succeed in their course.

The following evidence will be accepted:

  • IELTS level 6.5, with a minimum of 6 for writing, or
  • Notre Dame International Language Proficiency Test

(Other evidence may be accepted on review by Notre Dame International Education Office )

Academic Entry Requirements

The following information outlines the minimum entry requirements for postgraduate degrees. The personal qualities and professional experience of each applicant will also be taken into account when assessing the student for admission. Some courses also require a minimum period of professional experience.

Honors degree at a satisfactory level or a Masters Degree
