Alcohol, Cigarettes and Prohibited Drugs

It is illegal to drink alcohol or buy cigarettes under 18 years of age. It is illegal to purchase, distribute or use prohibited drugs. There is no smoking in all clubs, hotels and in public venues.

Quarantine

Check quarantine conditions and approved goods by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) before you travel. For information, log on to the Quarantine website at http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis.

Goods that are prohibited:

• Dairy and egg products
• Uncanned meats and products
• Live animals
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Seeds and nuts
• Live plants

Goods that must be declared:

• Cooked and raw food and ingredients
• Dried fruit and nuts
• Noodles and rice
• Packaged meals including airline food
• Herbs and spices
• Herbal and traditional medicines, remedies, tonics and herbal teas
• Snack foods
• Biscuits, cakes and confectionery
• Tea, coffee and other milk based beverages
• Feathers, bones, horns and tusks
• Skins, hides and furs
• Wool and animal hair
• Stuffed animals and birds
• Shells and coral
• Bee products including pollen
