The General Practice and Primary Health Care Research Unit at the School of Medicine, The University of Notre Dame Australia Fremantle, continues to progress and develop since its inception in 2006. The Unit receives core funding through the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing Primary Health Care Research Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Strategy Phase 2 and is also in receipt of independent research grant funds.

Objectives
  1. To encourage sustained  involvement in primary care research
  2. To participate (independently or collaboratively) in research which will inform practice
  3. To identify research projects that will engage general practitioner (GP) interests
  4. To provide core academic support for early career primary care researchers
  5. To develop a group of general practices capable of undertaking clinically relevant research (ie research practices)
  6. To encourage GPs and other health professionals to have "hands on" roles in research projects
  7. To support undergraduate student interest in primary care research
  8. To foster broader consumer involvement in primary care research
  9. To encourage primary health care research interests in the Kimberly region in partnership with the Nulungu Centre for Indigenous Studies, University of Notre Dame, Broome Campus.
