Primary Health Care Research Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Strategy
09 marks the fourth year of funding for the Unit through the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing PHCRED Strategy. Phase 2 of the PHCRED Strategy covers the period 2006 - 2009 and aims to develop and support research and evaluation capacity in primary health care through the Research Capacity Building Initiative (RCBI) and the Researcher Development Program (RDP).
Aims and objectives Of The PHCRED Strategy
The overall aim of the PHCRED Strategy is to develop and support primary health care research. The strategy has three major objectives:
1. To support the development of an expanded pool of primary health care researchers. At Notre Dame we aim to do this by increasing the pool of primary health care researchers by up-skilling early-to-mid career researchers and supporting the sustainable advancement of research careers in primary health care.
2. To enhance more research relevant to practice and policy. This will be done at Notre Dame by supporting early-to-mid career researchers to undertake more high quality primary health care research and ensure its relevance to policy and practice by aligning it with identified needs and priorities.
3. In collaboration with other relevant organisations, to develop well informed primary health care policy and practice. At Notre Dame we aim to achieve this by disseminating and facilitating the uptake of evidence in policy and practice through regular meetings and seminars and the publication of our research findings.
Under the strategy the General Practice and Primary Health Care Research Unit at Notre Dame is in partnership with the University of Western Australia (UWA) and the Combined Universities Centre for Rural Health (CUCRH) through Primary Health Care Research Evaluation and Development, Western Australia (PHCREDWA)-link to their page http://www.phcredwa.org.au/
