All items on loan are able to be recalled by library staff if another patron requests them. The new return date will be shown on a notice sent out via student email. Standard fine rates apply for all overdue recalled items.

What do I need to be able to borrow?
Students use their student ID card to borrow from the Library. ID Cards are obtained from the Registrar's Office as part of your enrolment process. The card must be produced at the Loans Desk each time a Library transaction takes place.

How do I make a request on an item that is on loan?
Simply login to the "My Account" section of the library catalogue. Once you have found the item you would like to request, click on the "Make Request" button. An email will be sent when the item is available for you to collect. Reservations cannot be placed on Reserve or short-term loan materials, or any materials not currently on loan.

Renewals
Items may be renewed once only. Overdue items, Reserve items and short-term (3-day and 7-day) loans may not be renewed.

Returning Loans
Please return all standard and short-term (3-Day and 7-Day) loans to the Return Box directly opposite the Library entry door. Loans Desk Reserve and overnight Reserve loans are to be handed directly to Library staff at the desk. DO NOT return items to any of the Library's shelving trolleys as they will not be recorded as returned and you will accrue overdue fines, for which you will be liable.

How can I avoid fines?
Fines are charged for the late return of Library books at a rate of fifty cents ($0.50) per day for standard loan items, and fifty cents ($0.50) per hour for Reserve items and short-term (3-Day and 7-Day) loans. In addition to fines, students must pay the replacement cost and an administration fee for books not returned within 30 days. Students are not permitted to borrow or renew items while they have overdue books or fines, and are advised to check their borrower record at the end of each semester, as exam results will be withheld until all items are returned and fines are cleared.

Reciprocal Borrowing

The Notre Dame Library has reciprocal borrowing arrangements with Edith Cowan and Murdoch University Libraries. To become a reciprocal borrower with Edith Cowan or Murdoch, simply take your current student/staff ID card to their Library (a current year sticker must be affixed, or take proof of current enrolment/employment) and ask to join as a reciprocal borrower. To become a reciprocal borrower at Curtin University, you must be an enrolled Masters (Thesis) or PhD student, or an academic staff member of the university.

The University Network is not available to Reciprocal Borrowers.
