I was appointed as the University Campus Minister in May of 2006. I was born in Washington State in the United States of America (the other WA), and did my initial university studies at St. Meinrad College, St. Meinrad Archabbey, Indiana. Took a Bachelor of Arts in History, with minors in English and Philosophy. Next I completed a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry through the University of Portland and Gonzaga University in 2003. I came to Fremantle in 2004 to work with Study Abroad Students from the University of Portland.

I completed a Master of Leadership in Social Justice from the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2006. In my current role I look forward to putting my education to work and helping to build a university community that is Catholic in the best sense. In my role as Campus Minister in addition to planning liturgies and programming for the University Community, I tutor in the School of Theology and assist as a guest lecturer in other schools upon invitation.

I hope you enjoy your time at the University of Notre Dame Australia and know that you are welcome to drop in for a chat about things that are on your mind, such as but not limited to: life’s transitions or ways that you think Campus Ministry could better serve the University Community, I am located in ND9/102 and look forward to meeting you!

“An education that is complete is one in which the hands and the heart are engaged as much as the mind. We want to let our students try their learning in the world and so make prayers of their educations.”

Rev. Basil Moreau, C.S.C.

I am a member of a Religious Congregation the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), founded by St Eugene de Mazenod in 1826. The Oblates arrived in Perth, Western Australia in 1894. St Patrick’s Basilica, in Fremantle, was one of our very first missions. An Oblate has been the Chaplain to Notre Dame, Fremantle, from its foundation.

If you are curious and want to know more about the Oblates, you might like to visit either of these websites: www.omiworld.org or www.oblates.com.au

I was born, raised and educated at Iona College in Brisbane (Qld). At the completion of Year 12, I entered St Mary’s Seminary, Melbourne, and commenced my formation with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. During my eight years of formation I completed the following studies: BA and Grad.Dip. Ed. (Monash), BTheol (MCD). I was ordained to the priesthood in December 1995. Since then I have worked as Assistant Priest in Lesmurdie ( Perth, WA), as a teacher and Chaplain at Iona College ( Brisbane). In 2003 I graduated with a MMin (BCT). I have worked at Notre Dame, Fremantle, since July 2004. I live in the Oblate Community at St Patrick’s Basilica where I occasionally celebrate Sunday Mass.

My vision of Campus Ministry and chaplaincy at Notre Dame is encouraged by my belief that the years spent at University ought to be years that allow for personal and academic formation. It is in such a context that we can be open to encountering the world and its ideas in new and life-giving ways. Within this context we are able to make leaps of faith.

“We must lead people to act like human beings, first of all, and then like Christians, and, finally we must help them to become saints.”
