An Evening with Bishop Peter Remigius

Bishop Peter Remigius is the Bishop of Kumbakonam in South India and currently the Chairperson of Caritas India.  He was formerly the Director of Caritas India and the chairperson of Asia Partnership for Human Development.

He will be speaking on his experiences in shifting the capacity building objectives of development partners regionally and locally in India and throughout Asia from a charity model to a development model.

Bishop Remigius is actively involved in animation for participatory development and programs promoting environmental management, which remain major priorities of the Caritas Internationalis network which he has been a member in the past.

He will also be speaking on his personal life such as the loss of four close family members during the Boxing Day Tsunami. In addition to this he embodies a comprehensive and strategic approach to International development which is firmly grounded in Catholic Social Teaching, and a strongly collaborative relationship with the people of his diocese and of India.
