Notre Dame Students Awarded for Achievements in Business

Business students from The University of Notre Dame Australia’s, Fremantle Campus recently received a special award for their work from one of the University’s industry partners.

The National Building Service Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) presented awards to students; Jayde Loxton, Philia Kailis, Daniel Dinelli and Nicole Cifelli, in recognition of their professional standard market research report during semester two, 2005.

The students were required to undertake the research consultancy for a specialised unit, Advanced Marketing Research - mentored by business lecturer, Dr David Clarke-Murphy.

Student, Daniel Dinelli said their main focus was to research the relationship between the Association and its members and look at members’ perceptions about BSCAA.

“We thought members would be more at ease talking to us about how they felt about the Association rather than telling the Association directly; we gave recommendations which were aimed at improving the communication channels between the Association and its members,” said Mr Dinelli.

Paula Squib, Vice President of BSCAA, presented the students with their awards. She said the company was very impressed with their work and is currently implementing some of the group’s proposed strategies.

“It’s great to know the work that is done at the University can actually be transferred into the industry and is worthwhile. It’s a help to both the students and the organisation,” said Mr Dinelli.

The BSCAA is Australia’s peak industry representative body for the building services industry. Association members include contractors for cleaning, security, facilities management and ground maintenance.
