Law School hosts national ALTA delegates

The University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA), Fremantle’s School of Law recently hosted a cocktail party for the 62nd annual Australasian Law Teachers Association (ALTA) conference.

ALTA is the peak body for Australian and New Zealand legal academics, and its annual conference provides a national platform for the presentation of academic papers and scholarly discussion.

The theme of this year’s conference, which took place at The University of Western Australia was, ‘Law and Public Policy – Taming the Unruly Horse.’

The cocktail party was held in Notre Dame’s Fremantle Hotel building, which houses the School of Business and main meeting rooms. It began with Professor Michael Gillooly, the Executive Dean of UNDA’s National College of Law, extending a warm welcome to the 140 delegates who braved wintry conditions to attend.

Professor Gillooly also thanked the co-sponsors of the event, the Law Schools at Murdoch and Edith Cowan Universities, and their respective Deans, Professor Gabriel Moens and Professor Mark Stoney.

After all official matters were taken care of the ALTA delegates enjoyed touring the ground floor of the Fremantle Hotel 1898 Building.

Professor Gillooly concluded that, “The evening was an outstanding success, and a splendid time was had by all.”
