The Admissions and Interview Process
Notre Dame is a private Catholic university committed to ensuring that students receive a personalised, high quality education. It offers a caring and friendly learning environment, providing courses which are challenging, relevant and responsive to student, employer and community needs.
The admissions process is personal.
Every applicant is considered on an individual basis. Prospective students apply directly to the University for admission.
The University of Notre Dame Australia seeks to enrol students who wish to make a special contribution to society. We use a comprehensive admissions process that goes beyond the use of a single score.
The selection process for Notre Dame is multi-faceted. It bases entry upon a range of different factors:
- Personal qualities and motivation
- Academic records
- Contribution to school life
- Community service
- Recommendations by schools and employers
- Admissions interview
- Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER)
When an application is received at the University, it is assessed by the Admissions Office. If the applicant meets the academic minimum entry requirements, their application file is passed to the relevant Notre Dame School for interview. An interview is arranged between a staff member of the relevant school and the applicant.
The interview process at The University of Notre Dame Australia is an informal meeting with a member of academic staff. The purpose of this meeting will be for the University to ask questions of the applicant, and also for the applicant to ask any questions they may have concerning their chosen course and the University. Applicants are usually only interviewed once.
After the interview process , the application is returned to the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office is responsible for reviewing the applicant’s personal qualities and motivation, community and school involvement, academic record and interview.
Most School Leaver applicants will receive a Letter of Offer or advice on an alternative pathway into the University between November 2008 and January 2009.
