Institute for Health and Rehabilitation Research

Overview

The Institute for Health and Rehabilitation Research was established in 2008 to foster partnerships in research and innovation to improve community health and wellbeing.  While physically based on the Fremantle Campus, the Institute also engages in research opportunities on its Broome and Sydney campuses.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to promote learning, scholarship and professional development in health and rehabilitation by drawing together scholars with different but complementary professional and disciplinary backgrounds.  To achieve this we will foster local, national and international partnerships to create, promote and evaluate the effectiveness of programs aimed at achieving positive health outcomes for all.

Our Objectives

In carrying out its purpose, the Institute will be guided by the following objectives:

  1. to foster interdisciplinary and interprofessional scholarship, research and learning experiences in health and rehabilitation.

  2. to further the Objects of the University and recognise that “the human person is a unity of body and soul” and that “health is fundamental to a person’s total well-being”.

  3. to undertake scholarship and research which will enhance the learning opportunities for students enrolled in health related disciplines at the University.
