Services and resources

  • ResearchOnline@ND

ResearchOnline@ND is a digital repository that captures, preserves and provides access to intellectual output of Notre Dame authors and researchers.

Its goal is to promote intellectual inquiry, research and cross-disciplinary collaboration and open access to research and outputs.

  • ResearchData@ND

ResearchData@ND is the University’s research data management planning (RDMP) tool. As a researcher you’ll use it to document the details of your research project through to publication.

  • Researcher development & training

The University offers a range of researcher development and training opportunities:

    • Researcher Development workshops can help you grow your research skills and digital capabilities. Sign up for workshops on research integrity, data management, strategic publishing, and other key topics.
    • The Advanced Information Research Skills modules help you understand the fundamentals. Including formulating a good research question, conducting cited reference search, organising literature, and selecting what and where to publish.
  • Publishing advice

A publication's reliability, integrity and quality needs to be considered when identifying where to publish.

The Library provides guides on what to consider when publishing your research.

  • Library support services for researchers

The Library provides a range of high quality services for researchers: specialist resources, open access publishing and repository, workshops, requesting books and articles, and a range of advisory services.

Industry and community engagement

  • Three Minute Thesis (3MT®)

The 3MT® event is a competition of research presentation and promotion. It was originally organised by the University of Queensland and has now been adopted by many tertiary institutions across Australia and overseas.

The competition provides an engaging opportunity for HDR students to develop their academic communication skills and experience. Participants face the challenge of explaining their research to the wider public in just three minutes with nothing other than one PowerPoint slide at their disposal.

  • Industry engagement

    What is an industry internship?

PhD internships provide candidates with the opportunity to apply their research expertise to a short project within an organisational context, gaining practical experience and building professional networks.

You can access unique opportunities via either existing PhD internship programs, such as the Australian Postgraduate Research Internship (APR.Intern, iPREP, CSIRO, and National Industry PhD Programs, or source your own internship in an organisation of interest.

Why do we encourage industry internships?

Our students have the opportunity to test their capabilities as a researcher and their transferable and professional skills. They will receive feedback from end-users, understand work expectations outside of academia and reflect on their development as researchers. They will also establish an industry network.

iPREP WA is an Industry and PhD Research Engagement Program, allowing postgraduates to gain industry experience at the end of their PhD program. The initiative is a collaboration between the five universities in Western Australia and is available to students studying at the Fremantle and Broome campuses.

PhD students interested in gaining industry experience can apply to participate in a 6-week project with an industry partner while waiting for their thesis to be examined.
