Quality and impact assessment

Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)

ERA is an evaluation framework that assesses the quality of the research conducted at Australian higher education institutions.  The Australian Research Council (ARC) conducts the assessment every 3 years and provided detailed guidelines on the submission process. The Research Office at Notre Dame is responsible for preparing the University’s ERA submission.

Engagement and Impact assessment (EI)

EI is an assessment of how universities are translating their research into tangible benefits beyond academia showing economic, environmental, social or other benefits and assesses the universities engagement with non-academic organisations.

Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC)

HERDC comprises of research income data submitted to the department of Education and Training each year.  The purpose of this reporting is to ensure the Australian Government’s research block grants are allocated in a fair and transparent way and to support the policy intent of the funding.
