The Alexander Sergius Eustace Horan Scholarship
Value: $3,500 to $4,500

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage a student, enrolled in the School of Law at the Fremantle Campus of The University of Notre Dame Australia, for whom educational opportunities are limited due to financial or economic hardship. The Scholarship will be awarded to a Student in the School of Law for the duration of their Bachelor of Laws degree whether enrolled in a three (3) year graduate entry, four (4) year undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Laws or five (5) year Bachelor of Laws Combined, having commenced in either Semester One or Semester Two.

The John H O'Halloran Law Scholarship
Value: $5,000

The purpose of The John H O'Halloran Law Scholarship is to provide assistance to a part time or full time student enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws degree (either as a single degree or as part of a combined degree) at the University School of Law, Fremantle, who has demonstrated the need for financial assistance to continue his or her studies.

To be eligible for the Scholarship applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled part time or full time on the Fremantle Campus of the University in the Bachelor of Laws course or in a combined course which includes a course for the degree of Bachelor of Laws and who have completed at least:
    1. Two years of full time study, or equivalent part time, at the discretion of the Selection Committee, towards the three or four year Bachelor of Laws degree, or
    2. Three years of full time study, or equivalent part time, towards a combined degree; and
  2. Have demonstrated the need for financial assistance to continue their studies.

The McCusker Scholarship in Law
Value: $5,000

The McCusker Scholarship in Law is to assist students studying a degree of Bachelor of Laws at The University of Notre Dame Australia. To be eligible for the Scholarship, students must have completed at least one year of part-time or full-time study in the Bachelor of Laws degree. The Scholarship is awarded to the applicant who, in the opinion of the selection committee, best demonstrates through their application and supporting documentation:

  1. An interest in legal ethics, social justice, and/or involvement in community outreach programs, which may be demonstrated by:
    1. curriculum vitae; and
    2. a personal reflection on the impact of their experience volunteering in a Community Legal Centre, or other community outreach program and how it relates to the ethical issue of providing access to justice for all the community.
  2. Academic achievement; and
  3. Financial need, which may be demonstrated by:
    1. being in receipt of a means tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Austudy, Abstudy, Youth Allowance); or
    2. submitting a statement of financial need and its impact on educational opportunities.

The Associates Rugby Union Football Club Scholarship
Value: $1,000 (Up to 3 Scholarships)

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage students in financial need from the Associates Rugby Union Football Club enrolled at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled full time at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle;
  2. Be a playing member of the Associates Rugby Union Football Club; and

The Aurora Internship Program

The Aurora Internship Program Program continues to place law, anthropology and other social science (namely archaeology, cultural heritage, environmental management, human geography, history and sociology) students and graduates from Australian universities at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs), Prescribed Bodies Corporates (PBCs) and at other organisations involved in policy development, research and social justice, all working to support the broader Indigenous sector Australia-wide. The Program introduces candidates to career opportunities in native title and the Indigenous sector and at the same time provides assistance to under-resourced and over-worked organisations.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank 2018 Scholarships
Value: $5,000 per annum for up to two years

Award values remain at the discretion of the special Committee.

The Scholarship aims to assist academically outstanding but disadvantaged students, from a rural or regional area, who have been offered a full-time place at an Australian university or college for the first time. The intention of the Scholarship is to assist with accommodation costs and/or other expenses directly related to the study of successful applicants. In addition to demonstrating economic and/or social disadvantage, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident from a rural or regional location
  • First year undergraduate in 2018 studying full-time
  • Graduated from secondary school in either 2017 or in 2016

The Bupa International Student Award
Value: $1,000 (Up to 3 Awards)

The Bupa International Student Award is to assist and encourage international students, enrolled at The University of Notre Dame Australia, to be involved in the life and culture of the University and the broader community. To be eligible for the Award, applicants must be enrolled as an international student at The University of Notre Dame Australia in an undergraduate or postgraduate award course, and be a student of good academic standing. The applicant will have to demonstrate:

  1. Promotion of the international student culture on the student campus of enrolment, for example, supporting commencing international students, or in organising events that promote international culture;
  2. Community involvement; dedication to their studies as demonstrated, for example, by their attendance, participation and involvement with activities of the relevant School, leadership and participation in extra-curricular activities within their field of study.

Please note: students enrolled in Study Abroad or Exchange courses are ineligible.

Capstone Editing Textbook Grant
Value: $3,000

The Capstone Editing Textbook Grant provides $3,000 for one undergraduate student per year to assist with covering the cost of textbooks for the duration of their degree. The recipient will receive one $1,000 gift voucher per year for three years. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at an Australian or New Zealand university. Applicants may be studying internally or externally and international students are eligible to apply. The grant is awarded on the basis of financial need.

Applications are open all year. The grant will be awarded on 1 February every year.

The Catenian Association (Province 20) Youth Scholarship
Value: $4,000

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage a meritorious student for the duration of their studies, for whom educational opportunities are limited, for example, because of financial need, distance, or responsibility for others, such as the ill or elderly. The aim of the Scholarship is to advance the interests of young Catholics and to assist them in the choice or pursuit of a career. The student will have demonstrated drive and commitment to achieve academically, despite financial hardship or other personal difficulty, in order to continue their studies at the University.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as a full time student at the University Fremantle Campus;
  • Have completed at least 1 year full time study towards their first Bachelor degree (with the exception of students enrolled in the School of Medicine);
  • Be 18 to 24 years of age; and
  • Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances as set out in the Selection Criteria.

The Catenian Charity Inc. Scholarship
Value: $5,000 per annum

The Catenian Charity Inc. Scholarship (The Catenians – strengthening Catholic family life through friendship and faith) is established to assist Catholic students who are in necessitous circumstances*, enrolled at a Western Australian tertiary institution or tertiary residential college, whose educational opportunities are limited, for example, because of financial need, distance, or responsibility for others, such as the ill or elderly.

The aim of the Scholarship is to advance the interests of young Catholics and to assist them in the choice or pursuit of a career. The student will have demonstrated drive and commitment to achieve academically, despite financial hardship, or other personal difficulty, in order to continue their studies. The student will have completed at least 1 year of full time study towards their Bachelor degree. The Scholarship will be paid to the recipient, if there is satisfactory academic progress, for the duration of their studies. The student must use the money to discharge their liability to the institution or college.

*A person is in necessitous circumstances where they don't have enough financial resources to have a modest standard of living in Australia. An indicator of this would be where a person's level of income is such that they are eligible to receive income-tested government benefits. Other indicators are health needs (such as sickness or disability) and family responsibilities. Such non-financial needs can cause financial necessity.

The Catholic Women's League of Western Australia (Inc.) Scholarship
Value: $3,000

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage meritorious female students for whom educational opportunities are limited because of financial need. These students will have demonstrated drive and commitment to the principles of the Catholic Women's League, with special consideration to applicants with a permanent home address of 160 kilometres or more from the Perth CBD. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be enrolled in an Undergraduate or Research Degree at the Fremantle campus of The University of Notre Dame Australia; demonstrate an understanding of the principles of the Catholic Women’s League (as outlined in APPENDIX 1 of the Scholarship Conditions) through a personal statement enclosed in the Scholarship application; and inform the University if in receipt of any other Scholarship.

The Chisholm Catholic College Scholarship
Value: first year tuition fees, up to a maximum of $12,000

The purpose of The Chisholm Catholic College Scholarship is to assist a Year 12 student from Chisholm Catholic College who wishes to commence their undergraduate studies at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle. The Scholarship may support a student who wishes to study in any School at the University’s Fremantle Campus.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  1. Have graduated or be due to graduate from full time Year 12 studies at Chisholm Catholic College in the year immediately prior to the year in which the Scholarship commences;
  2. Be enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree at the Fremantle Campus of the University; and

The Shire of Christmas Island Scholarship
Value: $5,000

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist a Year 12 student from the Christmas Island District High School who wishes to commence their undergraduate studies at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle. The student will have demonstrated drive and commitment to achieve academically, despite financial hardship or other personal difficulty. The Scholarship may support a student who wishes to study in any School at the University’s Fremantle Campus.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have graduated or be due to graduate from full time Year 12 studies at the Christmas Island District High School in the year immediately prior to the year in which the Scholarship commences;
  • Have been accepted as a full time first year or foundation year student at The University of Notre Dame, Fremantle;
  • Be planning to undertake their studies at the University internally;
  • Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited because of the remoteness of the location they reside in; and
  • Be able to demonstrate drive and commitment to achieve academically, despite financial hardship or other personal difficulty.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
  2. Be enrolled full time at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle;
  3. Be undertaking their studies internally; and
  4. Be able to demonstrate:
    1. that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances such as distance, financial need, disability or responsibility for the care of the ill or the elderly; and
    2. how the award of the Scholarship would assist the applicant in addressing the limitations referred to in i).

Mannkal Overseas Internship Program

The Mannkal Economic Education Foundation is a think tank that encourages the free market system in Western Australia by promoting the ideals of voluntary co-operation, choice, personal rights, limited government and responsible resourcefulness of individuals.

Mannkal's main focus is their student scholarship program - Mannkal sponsors university students to undertake internships at think tanks overseas during the summer and winter university breaks. Internships run for between 6-12 weeks and locations include London, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Berlin, Athens, Vancouver, Wellington, Hong Kong and more.

The objective of the student scholarship program is to allow students to learn more about free markets, economics and liberty whilst gaining practical work experience overseas. The scholarship covers all expenses associated with the internship program including travel, accommodation and living expenses.

These opportunities are best suited to students studying commerce, economics, law, media, politics, journalism and engineering however students from any faculty with an interest in free markets, economics and liberty are encouraged to apply.

Mary MacKillop Foundation Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship

The Mary MacKillop Foundation has been providing tertiary scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students since 1998. They have 75 graduates and currently another 66 students on scholarships. Students come from tertiary education providers across the country and study a wide variety of disciplines including education, law, science, acting, music, social work, nursing, medicine, criminology, communications and more.

Throughout their scholarship students are supported by a mentor who they meet with every semester for assistance and guidance when needed.

Mannkal Scholarships
Value: $5000 (single) or $7000 (team of two)

The Mannkal Scholarships are valued at $5,000 per annum for a single recipient or $7,000 per annum for a team of two students. The Scholarships are open to all third year equivalent full time students at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, who enrol in the Directed Business Project Unit BS391.

The Vice Chancellor’s Humanitarian Scholarship
Value: Tuition fees of the recipient.

The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist students holding Protection Visas under the Australian Government’s Refugee and Humanitarian Programme to commence or continue with their studies at the University.

The Scholarship has been established by the University in keeping with the University’s commitment to ethics and social justice, within a context of Catholic faith and values

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  • Be from a refugee or asylum seeker background as evidenced by the recipient holding a current Australian Government Refugee and Humanitarian Protection Visa which permits the recipient to undertake tertiary studies in Australia;
  • Be able to demonstrate that they will be able to reside in Australia for the completion of their course; and
  • Have been accepted or are enrolled as a student in an undergraduate bachelor program or in a Foundation or Enabling program at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle or Sydney campus.

The Fr PJ McGuire Scholarship
Value: $2,500

The purpose of the Fr PJ McGuire Scholarship is to support students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, with a preference for Kimberley students, studying at the Broome, Fremantle, or Sydney Campus of The University of Notre Dame Australia (University).

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be and state that he/she identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised by his/her community as a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrolment in an Undergraduate, Postgraduate or VET course at The University of Notre Dame Australia;

Young Carer Bursary Programme

The purpose of the Young Carer Bursary Programme is to assist young carers in greatest need, to continue to study and to relieve the financial pressure for them to undertake part-time work, in addition to their educational and caring responsibilities. Financial assistance is provided in the form of a bursary.

The programme will grant 150 Bursaries each year in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in the following amounts:

  • 50 Bursaries @ $ 4,000
  • 50 Bursaries @ $ 6,000
  • 50 Bursaries @ $10,000

Bursaries will be granted for 12 months with a new application process each year.
