Duncan is a member of the prestigious International Fiscal Association (Rotterdam). He holds a number of fellowships and memberships in: accounting and finance (SF.Fin, FCA, FCPA & FIPA); taxation (FTIA); economics (PMESA); governance (FAICD & FCIS); management and leadership (FAIM & CAHRI); and health (AFCHSM & CHE). Duncan is currently on the editorial boards of three business journals: e-journal of Social & Behavioural Research in Business; Journal of New Business Ideas & Trends; and the e-journal of Business Education & Scholarship of Teaching. He has previously been a CEO of a large credit union, practiced as an Accountant and Tax Agent in public practice, and as an Intensive Care Paramedic. Duncan has served on a number of Boards as a Chairman, Deputy-Chairman, Non-Executive Independent Director, Managing Director, CEO and as a Trustee. He is a mentor/coach/examiner for senior financial executives; has sat on validation panels and advisory boards for universities; and has given a number of radio commentaries on the current global fiscal crisis. Prior to his appointment at the University of Notre Dame, Duncan lectured at: Charles Darwin University; the University of the Sunshine Coast; Central Queensland University; and at tertiary institutions in New Zealand. His research interests include: economics of financial crises; political economy and philosophy of public finance (including taxation); indigenous health and business; corporate social responsibility; corporate governance; risk management; and breaches of paramedical protocols. Duncan is currently undertaking doctoral studies in public finance. |
