Welcome to the School of Education, Sydney
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the School of Education at The University of Notre Dame Australia's Sydney Campus. Along with the Schools of Education on our Fremantle Campus and our Broome Campus, we are part of a national College of Education at The University of Notre Dame Australia.
The School of Education aims to educate and graduate Australia’s next generation of outstanding classroom teachers. We want each of our graduates to be that teacher students remember as being absolutely wonderful. Our desire is that each graduate will be passionate about teaching, a skilled practitioner and a future leader within the teaching profession.
When you choose to become a teacher you are entering a vocation that is perhaps the most critical of all. In a partnership with their parents, you will play a defining role in the formation of our youth. Research tells us indisputably that it is the teacher who has the greatest impact upon the capacity of the individual student to learn and achieve. As a teacher you will have the opportunity to shape the future.
The teaching degree at Notre Dame is recognised for its unique 31 weeks of professional experience in the classroom. We believe that this will superbly complement the rigorous grounding you will receive in educational theory and practice whilst at Notre Dame. Upon completion of your degree you will possess the knowledge, skills and experience to be a highly successful and sought after teacher in the Catholic, Government and Independent schools' systems.
We offer four different degree programs: Bachelor of Education (Birth-12); Bachelor of Education (Primary); Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary). Additionally, there is the opportunity to achieve accreditation to teach religious education in Catholic schools by embedding required units within a Primary or Secondary degree.
We place an emphasis on the pastoral support we provide to our students and would be delighted to answer any further questions you may have about the School of Education or the degrees we offer.
