Robert McGuckin is a priest of the Diocese of Parramatta, ordained in 1973. He holds degrees in Theology and Canon Law. He has extensive experience in Church Tribunals where he is an accredited Ecclesiastical Judge. He is Director of the Institute of Tribunal Practice for Australia and New Zealand. He has also conducted Seminars in Singapore, Malaysia and Fiji. He is Associate Judicial Vicar for the Appeal Tribunal for the Bishops Conference of the Pacific. He is a canonical adviser to Bishops and Provincials.

He is a member of the Canon Law Society of Australia and New Zealand (and past president 1999-2006) and member of the Canon Law Society of America. . He is an affiliate of Finsia Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Justice of the Peace for New South Wales.

He is presently Vicar General of the Diocese of Parramatta and Moderator of the Curia. He is also Episcopal Vicar for Religious and Vicar for Health and Social Services in the Diocese of Parramatta, Chairman of the Council or Priests and member of the College of Consultors, Chairman of the CatholicCare Social Services Council and Chairman of the Diocesan Audit and Risk Management Committee.
