Rodney Petersen graduated from the University of Queensland bonded to the Queensland Government. He spent some time working in provincial and country areas of Australia in a variety of medical positions. He moved to medical administration within a pharmaceutical company and then to the Australian Army spending some time in the north of Australia. He obtained his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Perth and subspecialty training in oncology within Australia. He has spent the last 6 years working in Melbourne at the Royal Women's Hosptial, Sunshine Hospital and Melbourne University. He has a research interest specifically in psychological impacts of gynaecological cancer.
