Associate Professor Sachint Kumar Lal is the Hospital Coordinator at Hawkesbury Hospital for the School of Medicine, Sydney.

Associate Professor Lal graduated from Patna University in Medicine in 1958, and has in 1964 obtained a Master of Surgery degree, studying the surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. He has been a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (Edin.) since 1973 and Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons since 1993.

Associate Professor Lal has been in private surgical practice in Sydney since 1979, and is currently a Visiting Medical Officer at Hawkesbury District Health Service and at Nepean Private Hospital. He was the Chairman of the Medical Staff Council of Hawkesbury District Health Service for five years.
 
Associate Professor Lal has enjoyed teaching surgical registrars, junior doctors and medical students over many years in India, in UK and in Australia. Currently he teaches clinical skills to medical students at Penrith and to Fellowship candidates at ASSET courses for Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Associate Professor Lal has been a Rotarian for 25 years and was Club President in 1989-90.  He is a member of the District 9690 Australian Rotary Health Research Committee, and has been honoured with Paul Harris Fellowship for his services to Rotary and to the community.

Associate Professor Lal has been an accomplished sportsman having represented his College and University in soccer, hockey and cricket, and winning the College and University Single & Triple Rowing championships three years in a row.
