The Sydney Schools of Medicine & Nursing are located in the historic buildings complex of the Sacred Heart Parish in Darlinghurst. A $24 million restoration of these heritage listed buildings included the development of a new 7 storey education building. The complex features state-of- the-art facilities for use by medical and nursing students. They include simulated wards, practise wet laboratories, and clinical skills laboratories, in addition to simulated consulting rooms.
The complex was completed in early February and includes the restoration of the 1912 Sacred Heart Church and parish facilities which will remain as the parish church for Darlinghurst. The central courtyard within the complex provides the community with a private retreat from the busy environment of Oxford Street. Facilities include:
• Student recreation facilities
• Two large lecture theatres
• Seminar rooms
• Tutorial rooms
• Problem Based Learning rooms
• Research and staff offices
• An educational resource room
• Simulated wards and consulting rooms
• Procedural and Clinical Skills laboratories
• A modern medical library
