On-campus accommodation is available at our Fremantle and Broome campuses on the West Coast, while student accommodation is available in close vicinity to our Sydney campus.

Broome

  • Student accommodation in Broome

    Our beautiful Broome campus is surrounded by natural savannahs and tropical gardens. It’s only a 10 minute walk from the main Broome shopping centre, and 20 minutes to the town centre.

  • Accommodation information

    The student accommodation includes a hostel which can accommodate 13 people and 10 self-contained houses; each house contains five single bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and study areas. Guests enjoy shared kitchens, lounges, and dining areas.

    If you’d like to invite guests to visit, make sure they’re over 18. Students from other tertiary institutions and those attending training, workshops, meetings, or retreats are also welcome to apply for campus accommodation.

    An Accommodation Coordinator oversees the day to day running of the accommodation facilities. The Coordinator and Campus Services staff offer support and guidance to students to assist them in enjoying their stay at the Broome Campus. Living on campus, the students have ready access to the campus library and computer facilities.

Fremantle

  • Student accommodation in Fremantle (near Perth, WA)

    The University of Notre Dame in Fremantle (or as the locals call it, Freo) offers a range of on-campus and off-campus accommodation options for students.

  • Port Lodge: On-campus student residences

    Due to limited availability, the student residence hall in Fremantle isn’t accepting new applications for Semester 1, 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience. If you’d like to be placed on a waiting list, please email residentialhalls@nd.edu.au.

    Campus accommodation is ideal for those who want to be part of a community, meet other students around the world and live right in the heart of Freo, the main port city of Western Australia.

    Our student residences in Freo are a safe and positive community that provides high levels, and helps you grow and develop in all aspects of your life. Shops, cafes, restaurants, beaches, and sport facilities are within walking distance or are easily accessible by public transport.

    Other benefits of living on campus include:

    • Excursions each semester such as AFL matches, Fremantle Prison tour (spooky at night!), and Scarborough’s surf and beach day, not to mention the sensational Caversham Wildlife Park where you can hand feed kangaroos and cuddle their resident wombat!
    • Walking distance to the Esplanade and Bathers Beach, where you’ll find a plethora of bars and restaurants to chill at while watching the sunset over the Indian ocean.
    • Easy access to Rottnest Island ferries. You’ll land on a paradise island in just 30 minutes AND you might spot one of the island’s famous Quokkas (don’t know what a Quokka is? Google ‘Quokka selfie’ and follow in the footsteps of Roger Federer and Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth).
    • Themed dinners, such as our Murder Mystery Dinner, Grease Movie Night, and Taco Tuesday Fiesta.
    • Community meals weekly to meet and discuss Residences matters.

    • Close to Fremantle train station and bus station. Trains to Perth will drop you right in the city in less than 40 minutes.

    Facilities and rooms

    Rooms offered are single or twin shared. Rooms are allocated by Notre Dame so specific rooms can’t be requested.

    • Each bedroom contains:
      • King single bed
      • Bed linen – two fitted sheets, two flat sheets, two pillowcases, one pillow, one doona (Aussie for quilt/duvet/comforter)
      • Two towels
      • Study desk and chair
      • Wardrobe
      • Side table
      • Desk lamp
      • Heater and/or fan
      • Rubbish bin
    • Designated male and female bathrooms as well as co-ed toilets throughout the halls, shared by students.
    • A 24/7 common student lounge room, including a pool table, widescreen TV and a DVD player.
    • Fully equipped self-catering kitchens, with fridge and freezer space, and a personal lockable food locker.
    • Free laundry facilities for the exclusive use of residents including laundry baskets, drying racks, irons and ironing boards.
    • A designated study room with access to university computers and printing facilities.
    • Free WI-FI for all residents.
    • Lockable space for bicycles.

      • St Paul’s College Graduate House provides a comprehensive living and learning environment for postgraduates and academics, with a particularly strong community of medical students.

Private rentals (house/apartment/flat) or an individual room within a ‘share’ house are alternative accommodation options for students to explore based on their needs.

Students may choose to rent a room in a house, which usually consists of a private bedroom with a shared bathroom and communal areas such as kitchens and living rooms.
